Tauk (pronounced "talk") is an American 4-piece progressive rock-fusion band; from Oyster Bay, New York, that tours the United States regularly - averaging about 160 shows every year.
TAUK is short for Montauk, Long Island, but the music this band presents is eclectic and worldly.
What truly sets Tauk apart is their dedication to improvisation. Each live show is a unique journey, a conversation between the band and the audience where musical boundaries are gleefully shattered. Whether it's a blistering guitar solo that takes flight into the stratosphere, a pulsating bass groove that locks the crowd in, or a mesmerizing keyboard odyssey that bends time and space, Tauk's improvisations are pure sonic storytelling.
Genre
Heavy Instrumental Rock Fusion
Styles
The band draws on influences from a wide spectrum of electronica, such as house, drum and bass, and breakbeat, along with elements of jam, funk, and jazz.
About the Band
The American Jam Band Tauk has toured with Umphrey's McGee, Disco Biscuits, Papadosio, STS9, The String Cheese Incident, and others.
Hailing from the sun-kissed shores of Long Island, New York, with a genre-bending blend of progressive rock, funk, blues, and R&B, Tauk has carved their own niche in the ever-evolving landscape of jam music.
Their journey began in the fertile ground of middle school friendship, where Jalbert, Dolan, and Carter first met and started jamming. Fast forward to college, TAUK landed on its present lineup in 2012, when drummer Isaac Teel joined full time.
From these humble beginnings; playing local gigs, they quickly gained a loyal following, their dynamic live shows becoming legendary for their extended improvisations, telepathic musical interplay, and sheer sonic firepower.
But Tauk is more than just a live beast. Their studio albums, from the early days of "T.O.P." to the recent masterpiece "Sir Tauk," showcase their songwriting prowess and genre-defying experimentation. Tracks like "Sun on the Rise" and "What About You" are sun-drenched grooves that beg you to move, while "By the Numbers" and "The Remedy" showcase their darker, more progressive side.
Since then, the quartet has gone on to tour with the likes of Umphrey’s McGee, Widespread Panic, and Lettuce, landed festival slots everywhere from Bonnaroo to Electric Forest, racked up millions of streams, and released a series of widely lauded studio and live albums.
